SINOPSIS

In Old Testament Lights, the author reveals his biographical itinerary along the lines of the biblical text, practicing an exercise of regression in time with which he remembers - with great originality, by the way - the most remarkable personages and deeds of the history of the People From Israel from Adam to Job, from Genesis to Wisdom. The experiences, attitudes and feelings of the author are reflected in so many scenes of the Old Testament, emitting a message of hope for those who seek happiness and try to find answers to the problems that afflict the human race. This is not a book of biblical theology or exegesis. It is rather a poetic imaginary in which biblical history and personal experience are fused to express the deepest feeling of its author in the various crossroads of life. Pedro Martínez Borrego was born in Tetuán (Morocco) in 1927. He has a doctorate in Medicine and Surgery, since 1953 he has been practicing the medical profession with his dedication to Literature. From 1995 he focused his attention on the biblical accounts of both the New Testament and the Old Testament, read in poetic terms with a strong intimate component. He has published, among other works, Retazos y Cantares (1989) and Letters to Maria (1993). His work Los jardines del Paraíso was subsidized by the Ministry of Culture with an Aid to Literary Creation (1995).
