What is a SLOT?

The acronym SLOT is an acronym that describes the person who has become a slave of technology. A SLOT can be a guy or girl who spends countless hours in front of a screen. Whether they are teenagers or adults, these people often spend 70 hours or more in front of a screen. The term is often used in the context of the virtual linear instruction writing (VLIW) world. However, it is not only young people who are addicted to technology that use this acronym.

In the late 14c., “slot” was a noun meaning a hollow depression in the base of the throat, above the breastbone. The word is derived from the Old French esclot, which is itself of uncertain origin. Another synonym is Old Norse slod. The slot has been used as a noun since the late 1520s, while the meaning of “slot machine” was coined in 1888.

The term “slot” is also used to refer to an opening on a computer, where a printed circuit board can be inserted. Also known as “add-on boards,” a slot also serves the purpose of letting users install memory, video cards, and other devices. Bays, on the other hand, are sites on a computer where a disk drive can be installed. These sites are typically located on the front of the computer.

Bill Totts was a real denizen of the South of the Slot. He had a class consciousness similar to the average workman, but he harbored more hatred for scabs. The man sat down at the centre of the table, placing a cup in the middle of the table, and watched his friends and colleagues. The three were chatting as he waited for his turn at the slot. When it came to making the money, he had no other choice but to use his newfound cash.
